Laser Therapy

We have recently acquired the new Lightforce Deep Tissue Laser Therapy machine in order to provide the best, and most up to date treatments for our patients.
Laser therapy is a medical treatment that uses focused light to stimulate a process called photobiomdulation (PBM). During PBM, photos enter the tissue and trigger a biological cascade of events that lead to an increase in cellular metabolism, which can decrease pain and inflammation and accelerate the healing process.
Laser therapy is actually treating the painful areas directly by promoting healing response and not just improving the symptoms. It has been shown to produce great results in people suffering long term pain from conditions such as Achilles Tendonitis and Plantar Fasciopathy (Plantar Fasciitis).

During a therapy session:
focused laser light is directed at a specific area of pain, stimulating cellular energy production.
This light then helps boost your cells’ energy, which supports your body’s natural healing process. It can improve blood flow, reduce swelling, speed up recovery, and help relieve pain. Thus activating the body’s natural healing mechanisms

Laser therapy treatments must be administered directly to skin, as laser light cannot penetrate through layers of clothing. You will feel a soothing warmth as the therapy is administered.
Many patients receiving LightForce Therapy laser treatments report a comfortable experience, especially when the massage ball head is used.

What Conditions does Laser Therapy treat ?
Laser therapy is commonly used for many conditions affecting the body from the waist down, including:
-
Plantar fasciitis
-
Achilles tendinopathy
-
Knee injuries or arthritis
-
Calf strains
-
Hip and groin pain
-
Shin splints
-
Hamstring or quad strains
-
Heel pain
-
Ankle sprains
-
Foot pain or fractures
-
Nerve pain (like tarsal tunnel syndrome)
-
Post-surgery recovery
It’s a safe, non-invasive treatment that can be used on its own or alongside other therapies to support faster, more comfortable recovery.

Patients generally see results after 3 to 5 treatments. Chronic conditions often required more therapy than acute injuries, however our podiatrist will discuss the management plan to help reduce the symptoms you have been experiencing.
